a sense of direction, a beacon of light
have been erased from the horizon
directly opposite the vessel
holding
carrying the weight of these thoughts
how do you stop soaking up like an underwater sponge?
the lone bird flies higher and higher
closer to the shining star above
a perilous route once taken
a deviation off its course
unlike the rest of them
flying south for the winter
like you are supposed to
feathered icarus
your wings will not melt with the sun's warmth
your fragile body
will be the fuel for your own pire
and nobody can reach you in time
to avoid that bitter end
